She is widely respected not only by clients but by fellow lawyers, many of whom turn to her for specialist family law advice.

Best advice you’ve ever received, and do you actually follow it?

Be consistent. Showing up, being present and doing what you need to do every day is what gets you the results. It may seem laborious, something you don’t want to do, but when you practice consistency consistently, that’s when the magic happens and results do compound the more you show up!

What’s (still) on your bucket list?

Definitely the South of France. It has eluded me and it was my plan for many years to spend my 40th in the South of France but certain obstacles have occurred over the last 18 months that make that an unlikely possibility, but there’s always the next birthday!

What impact are you hoping to make through your work?

Changing people’s perspectives. I want to change my clients’ perspectives about what it’s like to deal with a lawyer. You get my mobile number, you get to speak to me when you call. Not two weeks later, it’s the same day or the next day. I also want to change my staff’s perspectives that working in law has to mean 12-15 hour days plus weekends. It doesn’t have to be. It can be an enjoyable and rewarding workplace.

Favourite local restaurant, and what are you ordering?

Harry’s On Green Lane in Bowral – the Crab Linguine is the ultimate!

If you could sit with any woman for a long lunch, who would it be and what would you ask?

Definitely Oprah Winfrey. Just being in the presence of an exceptional person can make you more exceptional yourself. The question I would ask is, what is your current challenge? Success often comes off the back of challenges and given her success, I'm intrigued to know what challenges she faces now, or even what challenges she creates for herself to stay driven.

What helps you get into your best work zone?

Being in my office in Mittagong. I’m still close enough to do school pick-up and drop-off, so I feel connected and able to be there for my kids, while also having a set amount of time to really focus and get the work done, knowing I need to be there by that 3pm tick-tock!

You can only pack three things in your handbag. What’s coming with you?

Hand cream (suddenly my hands have aged 20 years!), lipstick (because even with no makeup, lippy makes it look like you’ve made an effort), and business cards – you just never know who you will meet.

What book or podcast has made an impact on your business?

Atomic Habits by James Clear – it changed my perspective on daily life and tasks by showing me that making small adjustments can have a huge impact on making things easier and less challenging.

What’s something people may be surprised to learn about you?

I am a small town Kiwi girl and although my accent has softened into an Aussie one over the years, my roots still keep me grounded.

What are you excited about next?

My team at Lewis Family Lawyers is growing and in the last 18 months we has gone from 2 to 12. I’m excited about growing further and expanding to other states in the future. I can’t wait to see what the next 18 months have in store.
